CTD Apprehends ‘Mastermind’ in Amjad Sabri Murder Case

the Sindh police’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) declared on Tuesday that it has apprehended the “mastermind” responsible for the assassination of the well-known Qawwal Amjad Sabri.

On June 22, 2016, 45-year-old Amjad Sabri was on his way to a television studio by car from his house in the Liaquatabad area when a motorcycle drove up next to the car, and the attackers started shooting. The nation fell into shared mourning following the death of one of Pakistan’s most beloved qawwals and naat khawan, with an outpouring of grief never before seen on Pakistani social media.

A CTD spokesman, who is a Lashkar-e-Jhangvi operative, claims that Qasim Rasheed was apprehended while he was reactivating his compliance following his release from prison. CTD stated that Amjad Sabri’s murder was carried out by Asim Capri and Ishaq Boby, following orders from Qasim Rasheed, who was incarcerated at the time. Rasheed initially admitted to killing security personnel and Amjad Sabri in his first statement. Furthermore, hand grenades and firearms were found in Qasim Rasheed’s possession. It’s important to mention that Ishaq and Asim, who were convicted in the Amjad Sabri murder case, received two death sentences each in court after being found guilty of an attack on an imam bargah in Karachi.
