The decisions made at the ninth board meeting were accepted. Following the cabinet’s decision, the board debated offering financial assistance to the People’s Bus Service. To enhance the sense of security for female passengers using the pink buses, which are specifically designed for women, a decision was made to introduce training programs for female drivers.

The board reviewed the viability assessments for the next stage of the People’s Bus Service. This phase proposes the incorporation of an environmentally friendly electric taxi service alongside the inclusion of 500 buses.

The progress of the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) initiative was a topic of discussion in the SMTA board meeting. Saleem Rajput, the transport secretary, Kamal Dayo, the managing director of the SMTA, DIG Traffic Ahmed Nawaz Cheema, Sikandar Shaikh, a representative of the planning and development department, and Tufail Paliju, the chief executive officer of Trans Karachi, all attended the meeting. According to Memon, who spoke at the conference, the Pakistan Peoples Party leader, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, had a vision for strengthening women in all spheres.

He asserted that hiring female bus drivers will advance gender equality and improve women’s sense of security when traveling. He pointed out that the upcoming phase of the People’s Bus Service is expected to significantly tackle issues related to public transportation. According to the transport minister, electric taxis are beneficial for both the environment and the economy. They will help to reduce air pollution and create jobs in the clean energy sector.
