Benazir Bhutto’s Lifelike Wax Figure Finds a Home at Madame Tussauds in Dubai

Benazir Bhutto, Pakistan’s first female prime minister and the martyred leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), was honored with a wax figure on Sunday at Madame Tussauds in Dubai.

Benazir was the first female prime minister of Pakistan to win reelection twice. Two weeks before the scheduled general election in 2008, in which she was a top opposition candidate, she was slain in a gun and bomb attack on December 27, 2007, after departing from her party’s final gathering in Rawalpindi. She achieved a groundbreaking feat in the Muslim world by becoming the first female prime minister to be elected.

At the unveiling event for the wax replica of his late mother at the wax museum, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, who was in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on an official visit, also participated. “I am really thankful to Madame Tussauds for having us here today,” Bilawal remarked at the ceremony. He stated that revealing the statue of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto at Madame Tussauds in Dubai was indeed an honor and a privilege. According to the foreign minister, he first saw this monument at the London Wax Museum. The minister recalled his memories and revealed that, during their exile, his mother had lived there for around ten years.

Because of this, Bilawal said, “We feel a strong connection to both the city and the country. They were appreciative that the memory of her mother was being honored there in the form of a wax statue,” according to Bilawal. “She represents Pakistan’s peaceful, successful, and forward-thinking face and is a symbol of democracy, freedom, and equal rights for women everywhere.” He expressed his gratitude to the entire museum staff for constructing the wax replica of his martyred mother.
