The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) News has acknowledged that certain sentences used to characterize the recent pro-Palestine protests were misleading.
This admission came after one of its presenters, Maryam Moshiri, referred to the demonstrations as supportive of Hamas. On X (formerly Twitter), Moshiri stated, “In our previous report on the pro-Palestinian demonstrations over the weekend, we discussed ‘several protests across Britain where individuals expressed their support for Hamas’. “We acknowledge that the wording was inadequate and provided an inaccurate portrayal of the demonstrations.”
Earlier we reported on some of the pro-Palestinian demonstrations at the weekend. We spoke about “several demonstrations across Britain during which people voiced their backing for Hamas”.
We accept this was poorly phrased and was a misleading description of the demonstrations.— Maryam Moshiri (@BBCMaryam) October 16, 2023
It is noteworthy that BBC did not express regret for the statement.

Global demonstrations have arisen in response to Israeli offensives in Gaza. To date, over 2,800 Palestinians have lost their lives, and those who remain are facing severe shortages in essential resources such as food, water, healthcare, electricity, and internet access.
