Spotify, the world’s most popular streaming platform, entered the Pakistani market over a year ago with the purpose of facilitating local musicians in gaining new fans and establishing careers both at home and abroad by utilising the site’s tools and features that aid artist discovery.
Spotify is celebrating its first anniversary by disclosing how Pakistani music is discovered and enjoyed around the world, according to a press statement.
Pakistani artists have earned worldwide reputation. Over 19,590 tracks by Pakistani musicians were added to Spotify in the last year, according to the platform.
Among Spotify’s 184 markets with 406 million listeners worldwide, India, the United States, and the United Kingdom are the top countries listening to Pakistani music.
The most-streamed Pakistani musicians were disclosed by Spotify statistics outside of Pakistan. Atif Aslam became the most-streamed Pakistani musician outside of Pakistan after his hits Kadi Te Has Bol with Velo Sound Station, Jeena Jeena (Badlapur), and Tere Sang Yaara made the top ten most-streamed songs from Pakistan.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, a well-known Pakistani singer, was the second most-streamed Pakistani musician outside of Pakistan, while his uncle, the famed qawwali master Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, came in third. Momina Mustehsan came in fourth place, while Bilal Saeed came in fifth.
The ultimate love song for millions of listeners, Baari by Bilal Saeed and Momina Mustehsan, has risen to the top of the most-streamed local song abroad. Momina Mustehsan came in tenth with Adnan Dhool in Awari, and the power couple made another appearance with Uchiyaan Deewaraan in fourth. Gumaan, Don’t Mind with Rap Demon, and Afsanay, all by the rap duo Young Stunners, came in third, seventh, and eighth place, respectively.
