Lahore is all set up for the first artificial rain of the season to counter smog after the 19th of November.
The initiative will be headed by the Center for Integrated Mountain Research of the University of the Punjab.

How is it done?
For artificial rain, cloud seeding process is employed. Chemicals like silver iodide, potassium iodide and dry ice are thrown through the planes and helicopters in the clouds.
These particles muster water vapours in the air, leading to the formation of cumulonimbus clouds and later rain. It normally takes half-an-hour to produce rainfall with this method.
