After being banned from getting fuel, unvaccinated people now wont be allowed on Motorways

LAHORE: In another bid to pace the mass vaccination drive across Pakistan, the National Highways and Motorway Police NHMP has announced not to allow unvaccinated citizens after September 15.

Amid the latest restrictions, the unvaccinated citizens will not be provided fuel from next month while banners have been placed on the district administration’s orders at petrol stations across the provincial capital. Many service stations posted that “No vaccination, no service,” which will be applicable from September 1, and only customers with covid vaccine certificates will be able to buy petrol.

In the major metropolis of Pakistan, unvaccinated citizens will not be allowed to enter malls by the start of next month and fully vaccinated people will only be allowed to access hotels and restaurants as well. The list of restrictions continues as the country’s nerve center on novel disease further announced that those who have not taken both vaccine doses will not be allowed to attend marriage ceremonies in the coming weeks.

Earlier on Tuesday, Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar said those who have not been fully vaccinated against coronavirus will not be allowed to use public transport from October 15. The recent development was announced on the official handle of Motorway police which stated that ‘people should get ready and get vaccinated by the 15th of next month. It also directed passengers to carry their vaccination certificates to avoid any inconveniences.

However, passengers traveling on highways need to get their first vaccine shot before September 30 the second dose before the end of October. The stern action was a follow-up of the number of restrictions that were announced amid COVID resurgence in the South Asian country. Owing to the fourth wave of the pandemic, Pakistan has recently registered a fourth-month high daily death toll while the total deaths also exceed the 25,000 mark.

Earlier, NCOC head and federal minister Asad Umar and Special Prime Minister’s aide on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan also revealed the recent restriction curbs for unvaccinated citizens.

Speaking in a national presser in the federal capital, Asad said that a single jab is a must for traveling on the motorway after September 15. He further warned that no one will be allowed to use the motorways without vaccination after the given deadline.

Furthermore, the ruling party minister also mentioned that unvaccinated persons will not be allowed to use public transport from October 15 as well. Let it be known that the authorities have already announced restrictions for domestic air travel to curb the spread.
