A female teacher who was found guilty of savagely hitting a class 7 kid has caused the registration of a private school in Korangi, Karachi, to be suspended.
The inquiry committee, made up of officers from DIRPIS, was formed on January 31. According to a statement released on Wednesday by the Directorate of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions Sindh (DIRPIS), the committee found that the teacher had committed the crime.
According to the statement, “The accusation of corporal punishment given to Abdul Rafay by her class teacher-Miss Hafsa resulting in fractured on his elbow is correct.” It also stated that this was a “serious violation” of condition “4(h)” of Form “B” (Registration Certificate) and “Sindh Prohibition of Corporal Punishment Act 2016.”
The Father of the victim Muhammad Rizwan filed the complaint, alleging that his son’s instructor had subjected him to corporal punishment that left him with injuries and a shattered elbow. About the incident, Rizwan also submitted a First Incident Report (FIR).
When the incident was first reported, Sindh Education and Culture Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah took notice of it and ordered an investigation. The investigation was finished earlier today, and Prof. Rafia Mallah, Additional Director of the Directorate of Private Institutions Sindh, stated it.
The team paid a visit to the school on Wednesday morning and determined that the parent of the student’s complaint had merit.
On its Facebook page, DIRPIS announced: “The case of violence against a pupil in a private school in Korangi/Sindh Education Department’s probe is over. Syed Sardar Ali Shah, the minister of Sindh’s education and culture, took note of the occurrence and commanded an investigation. “In addition to being responsible for the student’s medical expenses, the private school will also have its registration withdrawn and be assessed a $25,000 punishment. Following an investigation, a report was provided by a three-person committee of the Directorate of Private Schools.
“In exercise of powers vested in me under Section 8 (1) Cancellation or suspension of the certificate of registration”) of “The Sindh Private Educational Institutions (Regulation & Control) Ordinance 2001 (Amended) Act-2003 and rules framed vide Notification No. SO (ACD-II)-9-6/2005, dated: September 20, 2005, the undersigned being competent authority hereby suspend the Registration Certificate bearing No. DIR/PS/RECER/1-556/202,” the statement continued.
