Watch: Finnish Women Post Dancing Videos to Support PM Sanna Marin after leaked video

Sanna Marin, the prime minister of Finland, has recently been in the spotlight due to a leaked video showing her dancing and having a good time with friends that went viral on social media.

Although Marin received criticism from many, many Finnish women are supporting her by posting videos of themselves dancing and having a good time. Sanna Marin was shown drinking and dancing with a group of pals in a video that appeared to have been taken at a private property last week, which is when the issue started. Numerous well-known Finns appeared in the video, including YouTuber Ilona Ylikorpi, musician Alma, and TV anchor Tinni Wikstrom.

Many Finnish women shared videos of themselves dancing and having a good time on social media with the hashtag “SolidarityWithSanna” to express their support for Marin. Additionally, certain social media communities offered support to Marin. As an American, it completely baffles me that the Finnish prime minister getting caught doing perfectly normal human things is a scandal in some way. Have you guys recently seen the rest of the world? A Twitter user wrote I’d kill for a leader whose worst scandal is drinking and dancing with friends.

She is intelligent, principled, and attractive. Now that we can see she can party and move, we can tell she knows how to act in the political theatre. They’re just cheap jabs from haters, another person wrote. A third person said leaders should dance more instead of getting furious and using violence to show how ‘strong’ they are.

Sanna Marin was sworn in as the nation’s prime minister in 2019. She surpassed New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s previous record as the youngest prime minister in the world at age 34.
