Suleman Dawood, a 19-year-old who perished in the Titan submarine along with his father and three other people, had brought a Rubik’s Cube with him to set a world record, according to his mother.

Christine Dawood, his mother, who spoke to the British broadcaster BBC News, stated that the adolescent had submitted an application to Guinness World Records in advance of the expedition to the Titanic wreck and had been “so excited” to attempt solving the puzzle far out in the North Atlantic. She claimed that his father, Shahzada Dawood, had even brought a camera to capture the momentous record-breaking occasion.

These remarks were made as the U.S. Coast Guard began an inquiry into the submersible’s collapse, following a story that captivated the world for days and led to a massive search. Despite this, she claimed that he boarded OceanGate’s 22-foot submersible since the trip fell on Father’s Day weekend, and he wanted to win over his father, who had a strong interest in the Titanic’s past.

On June 18, 900 nautical miles east of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, the father and son died along with three other men when the submersible they were inexperienced what Coast Guard officials called a “catastrophic implosion” shortly after setting out on the trip to visit the Titanic. An obituary published by the family also acknowledged Suleman Dawood’s passion for puzzles. Colleagues at Engro Corp., where his father held the position of vice chairman and where he had finished a summer internship the previous year, portrayed the teenager as a tall individual who could often be seen strolling with his cherished Rubik’s Cube, always wearing a cheerful expression.

Hamish Harding, a British businessman who resided in the United Arab Emirates, Paul Henri “Mr. Titanic,” a French mariner and Titanic expert, and Stockton Rush, the CEO of OceanGate Expeditions, which operated the submersible, also perished in the implosion.
