15 Prisoners Stage Daring Escape Through the Roof from Sindh Jail, 8 captured

Authorities have successfully captured eight of the 15 escapees following the audacious jailbreak at the judicial sub-jail in Qambar, the administrative center of the Qambar Shahdadkot district of Sindh, on Sunday.

According to reports, the defendants scaled the sub-jail’s roof to escape. Qambar SSP Toheedur Rehman Memon explained that the inmates employed a daring tactic of stacking themselves one on top of the other to climb the roof of the jail barracks. Following the incident, police teams launched search operations right away, which helped them find eight of the eluded convicts hiding out in different sections of the city and bring them back. To locate and capture the remaining fugitives, further police search groups have been created.

The individuals who managed to escape were primarily engaged in activities such as drug trafficking and robberies. Among them were Amir Gadhi, Waseem Tootani, Rab Nawaz Khaskheli, Zubair Sheikh, Ghulam Asghar Gopang, Saddam Hussain Mughiri, Asghar Ali Mughiri, Rehmat Ali Barohi, Ishaq Gopang, Muhammad Yousuf Joyo, Yaseen Minghar, Ayaz Hussain Khoso, Sarfraz Chandio, and several others. The administration is being held responsible for the security failure that allowed this jailbreak to happen.

Consequently, the responsible ASI and three other police officers assigned to the sub-jail have been apprehended, while seven other officials have been suspended due to their neglect in fulfilling their duties. As a response to the incident, all the staff at the Qambar sub-jail have been replaced with new personnel.

A team of enquirers has been assembled to look into the circumstances surrounding the jailbreak. SSP Memon has vowed to take severe legal action against any police officers found to have neglected their duties.

Earlier in June, several prisoners broke out of the Chaman jail in Balochistan by overpowering guards while they were allowed to leave their cells for Fajr prayers. The incident occurred as the barrack number 4 convicts were being escorted outside for prayer. In the nick of time, the inmates made a swift, well-coordinated assault on the guards, overwhelming them and gaining command of the circumstance. According to sources inside the facility, barrack number 4 was home to a significant number of inmates charged with serious offenses like murder and other horrific crimes.

During the ensuing exchange of gunfire between the police and prisoners, one prisoner was killed, according to prison officials. Currently awaiting medical attention are two more people who were hurt in the fight. A comprehensive search operation was initiated in the area surrounding the prison to locate the escaped prisoners.
