Thailand Proposes To Help Pakistan Build Sustainable Tourism

The ambassador of Thailand to Pakistan, Chakkird Krachaiwong, said that his nation was eager to collaborate with Pakistan on sustainable tourism because they have a lot of experience in the field.

We would like to share our wealth of tourism experience with Pakistan to promote sustainable travel there. He mentioned this while speaking to the executive body of the Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) yesterday. “We are now looking forward to working with Punjab and other provinces for it,” he said. He added that he wanted more and more people to visit Pakistan so they could see for themselves the kindness and hospitality of Pakistanis.

He said that tourist police could be formed to deal with tourists because regular police did not know how to deal with them. After all, they can only deal with robbery and other routine crimes. The ambassador expressed sadness over how this region of Pakistan had been portrayed in the eyes of foreign media, noting that visitors had informed them that the country was very different from what they had read about in the media. The envoy said they would inform businessmen here about a trade exhibition held in Thailand and added that they had visited some textile factories today to gain firsthand knowledge. He noted that a Thai rubber was used in football made by Pakistan for the most recent World Cup and added that his country was an expert in the food processing industry for which good packaging. He pointed out that Thailand, like Pakistan, is an agricultural nation that is also struggling with this issue.

He made care to submit business offers and other issues raised by MCCI to Bangkok for formal approval and resolution. Earlier, MCCI President Mian Rashid Iqbal provided background information on Multan’s history and its renowned for its cotton, sohan halwa, and other goods as well as for its unrivaled mangoes. In addition to a sizable industry of cotton ginning, spinning, weaving, fertilizers, cosmetics, glass manufacturing, oil mills, confectionery & beverages, and juices, etc., he claimed that South Punjab’s strength in agriculture makes it the best region for investment in agro-based industries like fruits, vegetables, processing, dairy, and livestock.

Along with former presidents Fazal Elahi Sheikh, Syed Iftikhar Ali Shah, Khawaja Farooq, and Saqib Shah, VP Asim Sheikh was in attendance. Roman Tanvir, Saleha Hassan, and other others were also there. A thank-you speech was then given to the guests by SVP Nadeem Sheikh.
