Significant Reduction in PTA Registration Fees for iPhones

The registration fees for older Apple iPhone models have just been decreased by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), marking a significant development. This action comes after the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) declared lower taxes on Apple devices.

As a result, the PTA promptly adjusted the registration costs across various categories, a move that was well-received by iPhone fans.

The updated registration fee structure encompasses two main categories: passport-based and CNIC-based fees. Notably, this change exclusively applies to vintage iPhone models. The PTA announced reductions in registration fees for two types, those based on passports and those based on CNICs:

  • A charge of Rs38,922 was set as the registration cost for the iPhone 8.
  • A fixed amount of Rs48,314 was required to register an iPhone 8 with CNIC.
  • A charge of Rs. 40,951 was set as the registration cost for the iPhone 8 Plus for passports.
  • A fixed price of Rs50,546 was required to register an iPhone 8 Plus with CNIC.

Thanks to the decrease in registration costs, these older iPhone models will become more accessible to users and tech enthusiasts nationwide. This move aligns with the FBR’s decision to lower taxes on Apple handsets, fostering an environment of accessibility and affordability. The proactive step taken by the PTA will enable a larger number of people to experience the creativity and elegance that Apple iPhones offer. By making this choice, the regulatory bodies exhibit their dedication to promoting cutting-edge technology adoption and adapting to market conditions.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s decision to reduce registration fees for earlier iPhone models in response to tax reductions is a step in the right direction toward enhancing the affordability of these devices for a wider segment of the population. This deed not only showcases the prompt reaction of the PTA but also indicates the nation’s openness to embracing technological progress.
