School announces 20pc fee reduction as country battles third Covid wave

LAHORE – Amid the third deadly wave of a novel coronavirus, The Punjab School has announced a 20 percent fee reduction to facilitate parents and without downsizing.

During the hard times of ongoing pandemic, people in the south Asian country saw a major decline in job opportunities beside other being jobless and many even face deduction in the salaries, but they are forced to pay full fee despite the closure of educational institutions due to a resurgence in new infections.

In wake of the huge demand for fee waiver amid school closure, the Ministry of education and Private Education schools authority announced a 20 percent slash in the fee starting from April till the reopening of the schools – but the rule will implement on those schools which are charging more than 8,000 per month.

The move from The Punjab School comes following the announcement of fee deduction in Islamabad as it becomes the first school outside the federal capital to offer a 20 percent cut in the tuition fee. Let it be known that the school charged less than Rs 6,000 per month and that does not make them bound to follow the latest instruction.

A notification issued by the school authority cited the intense third wave which has crippled the country and many of the parents were unable to pay the fee in the current circumstances.

Adding that The Punjab School has always addressed all concerns of parents and this time too it has bear the brunt by waving off 20 percent in fee of the month of May 2021 amid the extreme financial crisis. The notification further revealed that the school has also paid all of the faculty staff despite disturbance in the fee collection.

School’s Director admin Jibran Baloch while speaking with othernews.pk told that the closure of private schools across the country has affected millions and the government failed to provide any relief to the private educational institutions amid the long closure despite the schools become the only industry that was enforced to follow the Covid SOPs more religiously than any other sector.

Baloch also urged that the incumbent government to facilitate students besides the schools as the parents aren’t able to provide online learning gadgets to every child separately.
