The breathtaking finale show for all the cricket fans is here as Multan Sultans, for the very first time, are qualified for Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 final and will clash against Peshawar Zalmi. Both teams have a 1-1 PSL 6 record heading into the grand battle.
Earlier in the Karachi-leg, Wahab Riaz led Peshawar chased a 194-run target for the loss of four wickets with one over to spare, however, Sultans settled the score on June 13 in Abu Dhabi when they achieved an eight-wicket victory at the back of an unbeaten chase by Mohammad Rizwan and Sohaib Maqsood.
Both sides did well in the playoffs to make it to the final. Sultans defeated United in the Qualifier by 31 runs to reach their maiden PSL final. Zalmi, who clinched victory back in the 2017 tournament, defeated Karachi Kings by 5 wickets and overwhelmed two-time champions Islamabad United by 8 wickets in the eliminators to set the final date with Sultans.
Sultans have won three out of the last four encounters between these two sides and will back themselves to win the title.
Earlier today, two Peshawar Zalmi’s players, Haider Ali and Umaid Asif have been suspended from the final battle against Multan Sultans for violating safety protocols. Both admitted to meeting people from outside their designated bio-secure bubble and also failed to maintain the prescribed social distancing.
Following the breach, the tournament’s management panel comprising Barrister Salman Naseer and Babar Hamid decided to suspend both players.
