Palestinian prayer leader fatally shot in head by Israeli troops at West Bank

JERUSALEM: In another gruesome incident of grave violation of basic human rights, Israeli forces on Friday afternoon shot a Palestinian prayer leader amid an ongoing demonstration in the illegally northern-occupied West Bank.

The slain is identified as 45-year old Atef Yousef Hanaysha, who was shot dead by Israeli armed forces. They reportedly opened fire on protesters during an anti-settlement rally near the Nablus-area village of Beit Dajan.
The deceased was shot in the head, later he shifted to Nablus hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead soon after arrival.

Beit Dajan is the site of weekly protests against the illegal Israeli occupation. The rally was also carried out against the illegal expansion of Israeli settlements in the territory.

In the background of the Beit Dajan, the lands spread across 6,650 acres while a large area of territory has been illegally acquired by Israel. The Jewish forces have turned the confiscated area into a military base which also opposes international law.

It is pertinent to mention that Israeli forces killed at least 27 Palestinians in the year 2020 across the occupied territories.
