Pakistan to start COVID-19 vaccine registration for age 19 above slab

ISLAMABAD – All those aged above 19 can register themselves on the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) portal to get vaccinated against novel Covid-19 starting from tomorrow as the government gears up to inoculate all adults at the earliest.

NCOC chief and Federal Minister Asad Umar Wednesday took to his official handle to announce the decision. ‘In today’s NCOC meeting we decided to open up vaccination registration for all 19 years and above. This registration will start tomorrow. So now registration will be open for the entire national population which is approved by health experts for covid vaccination,’ the tweet of a federal minister.

The move of the incumbent government comes after the Pakistan nerve center on deadly disease explained that the South Asian country mull to jab all adults as vaccine supply improves amid the Chinese cooperation and COVAX facility.

Earlier on May 16, the country started registration for persons aged 30 and above. By the start of this month, registration for the coronavirus vaccination for people aged between 40 to 49 years across the country started while the health authorities started walk-in vaccinations for senior citizens.

According to the report of an English newspaper, the top authorities plan to vaccinate at least 70 million people by the end of this year.

Meanwhile, four primary vaccines are being administered including three Chinese jabs. Sinopharm, Sinovac, and single-dose Cansino are the Chinese-made vaccines while Oxfords’ AstraZeneca vaccine is only administered to those above 40 years – as per the WHO guidelines.
