Ex-Afghan minister, who holds two majors from Oxford, now works as pizza delivery guy in Germany

LEIPZIG: A former Afghan cabinet minister Syed Ahmad Shah Sadat, who holds two degrees from Oxford, has ended up getting a job of delivering pizzas in Germany’s Leipzig.

Sadat, who previously worked as communication and technology minister in war raged country, was recently spotted wearing an orange uniform while riding a bicycle in Leipzig town of Germany – the most populous metropolis in the German state of Saxony.

The development surfaced when a German publication Leipziger Volkszeitung shared his story in which the former Afghan official can be seen with a bag hung on his back while riding a two-wheeler.

A local journalist also shared the snaps on social media claiming that he had spotted Shah on the streets of Leipzig as he was delivering pizzas. Taking it to Twitter, the German journo who goes by the name of Josa Mania-Schlegel wrote “A few days ago, I met a man who claimed to have been the Afghan communications minister for two years ago”.

He further added that “I asked what he was doing in Leipzig. I’m driving out of Essen for Lieferando”, he posted quoting Sadat as saying.

Following the news in German local, it garnered the eyes of international media, and the man, while speaking to Sky News Arabia, confirmed that the pictures circulating were indeed his.

Many experts and analysts also expressed skepticism about the development as the former member of Ashraf Ghani-led cabinet also holds two degrees from Oxford which stands at number 2 in the world, per QS World University Rankings. Sadat completed his first degree in electronic engineering while he also holds a Masters’s in Communications.

Shah joined the Afghan cabinet back in 2018 and resigned last year in wake of his difference with the former authorities. He served for two years as the Afghanistan information and technology minister. He later left the war-raked country and went to Western Europe.

Meanwhile, the incident surfaced when the control of Afghanistan has been captured by insurgents while the foreign national and troops are leaving amid the scariest evacuation.
