Worrying for any 95-year-old person to catch this virus, and a very worrying time for Britain when it's our Monarch. Good luck, Ma'am. 🙏 pic.twitter.com/7CLQNqEXl0
The Queen’s diagnosis comes ten days after her son Prince Charles was diagnosed with Covid-19 for the second time, with his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall testing positive on Monday. The Queen “recently” met with Prince Charles, according to CNN, but the exact date was not provided.

On Wednesday, Queen Elizabeth II met with outgoing Defence Services Secretary Rear Admiral James Macleod and his successor Major General Eldon Millar, who received her first Covid vaccine in January 2021 and has reportedly had all of her follow-up shots, though the palace would not confirm that information citing medical privacy, according to the BBC.
“I’m sure I speak for everyone in wishing Her Majesty The Queen a fast recovery from Covid and a rapid return to bright good health,” British Prime Minister Boris Johnson tweeted on Sunday. (Just hours before the palace’s announcement, Johnson tweeted, “Covid will not go overnight, and we must learn to live with this infection while maintaining our freedoms.”)
Queen Elizabeth II, who will turn 96 in April and has reigned for seven decades, spent a night in hospital in late 2021 for unspecified reasons; some claim the Queen was exhausted, forcing her to cancel scheduled engagements.
In April 2021, her husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, died at the age of 99. According to the New York Times, Buckingham Palace went to considerable measures to isolate Queen Elizabeth during the Covid-19 outbreak, but she has recently resumed public appearances.
The Queen was planned to appear at a diplomatic reception on March 2 at Windsor Castle, as well as other events that month, but CNN says that those engagements are now in jeopardy.
