Apple now willing to kill Sim Card

Apple’s iPhone 14 series has been making headlines for a time now, and it is expected to launch with both eSIM-only and nano-SIM card options.

According to iMore, Emma Mohr-McClune, Technology Service Director at data analytics and consulting firm GlobalData, believes Apple will keep a nano-SIM slot option for the iPhone 14 series while also introducing an eSIM-only option this year.

According to the analyst, Apple will give operators the option of stocking and selling the new eSIM-only iPhone alongside “more cellular business-friendly dual eSIM/physical SIM support models.”

Apple had advised major US telecom providers to prepare for eSIM-only iPhones by September, according to a story quoting a supposedly credible document. The arrival of the eSIM-only iPhone 14 series was signalled by this.

Apple would effectively enable consumers to have cellular connectivity on their future iPhone models without requiring a physical SIM card by adopting eSIM over the existing nano-SIM card slot.

The experience should be similar to getting 4G or 5G connectivity on an iPad, which has already begun to enable eSIM-only support.

When Apple initially offered dual-SIM capability on the iPhone XS models, the move from the nano-SIM card slot to eSIM began. Last year, Apple enabled dual-SIM compatibility with eSIM on the iPhone 13 series. Furthermore, the cellular versions of Apple Watch models that provide data and voice access on the timepiece without requiring a physical SIM are another gadget in Apple’s product portfolio with eSIM support.
