Unusual Celebration: PTI Workers Use Graveside Floral Blankets to Welcome Gandapur on his return

Maybe it was the 2am return of Gandapur or the influence of the closely situated Mian Mir Graveyard, but PTI workers celebrated the return of Ali Amin Gandapur by draping their hero with floral blankets typically used on graves.

In an unusual celebration, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers draped their hero, Ali Amin Gandapur, with floral blankets traditionally used on graves to mark his return. Gandapur had been released quietly by the Sindh Police and made it back to Zaman Park in the early hours of May 6th.

The overjoyed PTI workers, mostly Pathan, gathered to greet Gandapur, showering him with hugs and flowers. However, instead of using the traditional floral neck bands, they hung six-foot-long floral blankets on him, covering his body from neck to toes. The sheer number of blankets was such that only a small part of his face was visible, making for an awkward sight.

During the celebrations, PTI leader Khan patted Gandapur’s shoulder and placed his hand over his head while slogans of “Imran teray jaan nisaar- beshumaar beshumaar” echoed in the air.

Gandapur’s release followed a long legal battle involving cases registered against him in different provinces. During this time his trademark hair were trimmed to crewcut.

Despite the unusual celebratory gesture by the PTI workers, the return of Gandapur marks a significant event for the party and its supporters.
