The Opening Ceremony for PSL 8 Will Take Place in Karachi Instead of Multan

According to sources, the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) would begin in Karachi rather than Multan.

The management committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reportedly is not convinced that the opening ceremony and the first game should be held in Multan. The PSL 8’s first game is most likely to be played on February 13 at Karachi’s National Bank Cricket Arena (NBCA).

Multan, meanwhile, will only be able to host games during the round of 16. After the end of the home ODI series against New Zealand, the PSL 8 final schedule will be revealed. The opening ceremony of the first PSL was scheduled to take place in Multan earlier. The first phase of the league was intended to be held in Multan and Karachi. The other two locations for PSL 8 are Lahore and Rawalpindi.

A comprehensive update on the PSL 8 was also provided to the management committee last month, and they decided to add Quetta as the fifth location for the eighth iteration of the PCB’s premier yearly event. The Committee decided that PCB would closely collaborate with the local government to upgrade and renovate Bugti Stadium and that separate talks would be held between PCB security experts and local authorities to guarantee the safety and security of all competitors, officials, and spectators. This was done to ensure that Bugti Stadium was ready to host the PSL 8 matches.

Seven years after the HBL Pakistan Super League was initially established, I’m excited to say that we’ve committed to making Quetta’s Bugti Stadium the fifth venue for our iconic event.

The Quetta Gladiators play their home games at Bugti Stadium, and the magnificent scenes during the Gladiators’ return to the city following their victory in the 2019 championship still stick in our minds, according to the committee’s chairman Najam Sethi. “I am happy that we will now bring HBL PSL matches to their doors. The devoted cricket fans of Quetta have been waiting for a long time to see high-profile cricket in their backyard.

I have already spoken with influential leaders in the province of Balochistan about this, and they have promised me their full assistance about the execution of the event,” he stated. The eighth PSL will be held from February 13 to March 19, 2023, according to the schedule.
