Teaser of Web Series on Fatima Jinnah unveiled

The first trailer for the upcoming web series by Danial K. Afzal, based on the life of Fatima Jinnah, has been released.

The Mother of the Nation in each era will be played by Sundus Farhan, Sajal Aly, and Samiya Mumtaz in the television series Fatima Jinnah: Sister/ Revolutionist/ Statesman. There are hints of the three eras the web series will cover in the prologue that has already been released.

The story begins in 1929 Bombay with a woman picking up an unidentified sender’s and recipient’s postcard. While the sights continue to be hazy, the vision is clear, and we can hear Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah speaking in the distance. The Muslim League meeting in Delhi in March 1929 was presided over by Jinnah. He summarized the All India Muslim League’s manifesto’s 14 principles in his speech to his delegates.

Then we are transported back in time to Lahore in 1947 when we watch a train picking up passengers on its way to another country. As Radio Pakistan makes its first-ever announcement, a woman moves in its direction. As the promise of an independent state is realized, uncertainty looms. Pakistan gained its independence on August 14, 1947. The clip transports us to Karachi in 1965 when the same woman is waiting for us while holding her spectacles and picking up what appears to be a letter. Between April and September 1965, India and Pakistan fought the Second Kashmir War.

In his new online series, Afzal will portray Madar-e-Millat in her 30s during the pre-partition era, in her 50s during the Independence, and in her 70s during the post-partition era. Afzal previously revealed this to The Express Tribune The prologue’s YouTube description states, “Await a captivating visual and historical work based on the first female leader of Pakistan.” The video arouses feelings of anticipation and loss. It is depressing yet, in a way, satisfying. One feels uneasy and off-balance because the life of such a significant female character in Pakistani history is finally being explored on television. The intriguing teaser undoubtedly heightens the anticipation.

Sundus Farhan, Sajal Aly, and Samiya Mumtaz were chosen by Danial to portray Fatima Jinnah in the aforementioned eras, respectively. The director also explained how the stars were chosen for the film. He remembered how, prior to their embarkation, he had given each star a book about Fatima Jinnah so they may have their own knowledge of the woman. The web series, which was exclusively filmed in Lahore and Islamabad, features many other historical individuals in addition to Fatima Jinnah. Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Iqbal, Liaquat Ali Khan, Ruttie Jinnah, and Rana Liaquat Hussain, among others, would be seen by the viewers, according to Danial. On August 14, the series’ opening episode will be released. The online series, which presently has three seasons and each has 15 episodes, will be shown on aur-digital, a brand-new digital platform.
