‘Ziyada Barish, Ziyada Paani’: Sindh Assembly’s Roof Leaks Following Downpour

Following the tremendous rainfall in Karachi, the roof of the Sindh Assembly started to leak.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Shahzad Qureshi published the footage of the leaks on Twitter, drawing criticism for the PPP-led Sindh government.

In the footage, MPs can be heard voicing their worries that the leak could cause the ceiling to fall. PTI MPAs Shahzad Qureshi, Khurram Sher Zaman, and Saeed Afridi expressed their worries over the red zone of Karachi, which also includes the Chief Minister’s House and the Sindh Assembly complex, being swamped after 10 minutes of rain.

Shahzad Qureshi claimed that the assembly hall was flooded with rainfall, costing the Sindh government millions of rupees. “This demonstrates how dishonest the Sindhi government is”, he insisted. It is important to note that when the first monsoon continued to sweep the nation, rain pounded several sections of the port city.

This afternoon, rain fell in Karachi’s Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Landhi, Korangi, Saddar, Lyari, North Karachi, Surjani Town, Nagan Chowrangi, and Godhra. Monsoon currents are already affecting Pakistan and may continue to do so over the next 24 to 48 hours, according to the most recent warning from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

From the weekend on, the monsoon currents are projected to get stronger. The PMD stated that due to the influence of this weather system, rain, wind, and thunderstorms are predicted for the following locations from July 5 (night) to July 7: Islamabad, Kashmir, Swat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Hafizabad, MB Din (morning).

On July 5 (night) and 6, significant rainfall is also predicted for Kashmir, Peshawar, Mardan, Kurram, Dir, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Islamabad, the Potohar region, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Hafizabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, and Sargodha.

The PMD also stated that rain-wind/thundershower activity (with isolated heavy falls) is anticipated in the following locations from July 5 (night) to July 7: Zhob, Ziarat, Barkhan, Loralai, Kohlu, Quetta, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbella, Naseerabad, Sibbi, Panjgur, Turbat, Pasni, Gwadar, Ormara, Kech, Awaran, Kharan, Mir.

Netizens took to Twitter to express their thoughts. A Dawn New journalist @MixPatti tweeted, “Legislation under leakage.

Twitter user @novocainerush, “Mashallah Sindh government gave half of the allocated money to the contractor and put half in their pocket, they couldn’t even construct Sindh assembly right, which is a place PPP members are meant to use, and you think they give a fudge about any of us.”

Another Twitter user @Abnoxiuos tweeted, “Classic Sindh gormint.”
