Second Cup, Mocca among five restaurants failed in PFA assessments

For failing to meet food safety regulations and quality parameters, Punjab Food Authority (PFA) halted production of five upscale cafés and slapped substantial fines on four in residential neighborhoods of Lahore.

Raids were carried out at Mall 1, Main Boulevard Gulberg, and MM Alam Road as part of the ongoing anti-adulteration campaign, which was overseen by PFA Director General Shoaib Khan Jadoon.

According to him, the PFA issued emergency prohibition orders (EPOs) to Second Cup, Mocca Coffee, Ganache Café, Shagaf, and Sasha, ordering them to cease production until further notice.

PFA took action against these large cafés for utilising fungus-infested bread, buns, unsatisfactory cheese, and low-quality components, according to DG PFA. Apart from that, food stations failed to conduct adequate pest-control measures; yet, during the raids, an abundance of cockroaches was observed in the kitchen, he noted.

Café Aylanto, Mandarin Kitchen, Café Zouk, and Salt n Pepper were also hit with significant fines for their deficient food safety and hygiene preparations.

The goal of a particular anti-adulteration campaign, according to Jadoon, was to assure food quality, safety, and standard during Ramadan. He stated that the PFA has been assuring the implementation of a unified policy for the food business from the beginning, without discrimination, regardless of how little or large the company is.

He also stated that the Punjab Food Authority will continue to take action against food enterprises that serve poor food or fail to comply with the Punjab Pure Food Regulations.
