Scarsdale School Attackers secure prearrest bail

The pre-arrest bail request of the four girl students who were charged with torturing a classmate at Scarsdale School in the Defence Housing Authority Lahore was accepted by a local court in Lahore on Saturday (DHA).

The four girls were given bail by the court in exchange for surety bonds totaling Rs. 50,000, preventing the police from detaining them until January 30.

In response to the victim’s father’s complaint, the police filed a first information report (FIR) against the accused under PPC sections 337A(i), 354, and 379. The victim was beaten in a video that quickly became popular on social media.

Authorities had taken notice and started an investigation after a video of a girl being tormented by classmates at an upscale private school in Lahore went popular on social media.

Two to three young females are seen in the video holding the alleged victim by the hair and pinning them to the ground.

The video was posted on Twitter on Friday and was shared multiple times. The alleged victim was verbally abused and told to “say sorry” by the girls, who were also heard doing so. It was observed that another girl was using her mobile phone to record a video of the incident.

In response to the video that was shared on Twitter, the Punjab Police and the Capital City Police Lahore both said that a case had been filed and that an investigation into the event had started. The Express Tribune has a copy of the FIR, which was filed in response to the victim’s father’s allegation.

Three of her classmates at a private school in Lahore’s DHA phase 4, according to the complainant’s allegations in the FIR, abused her daughter. In the FIR, the father stated that his daughter’s classmates were drug users who “forced my daughter into the drug culture, which drove me to send a video of her doing drugs to her father” and who “were forcing my daughter into the drug society.”

The complainant claims in the FIR that “they assaulted my daughter on the 16th of January 2023 to exact retribution for me.” According to the victim’s father, his daughter was repeatedly attacked with knives while they tried to strangle her. They also stole 1.5 tolas worth of her gold jewelry “. A few others who witnessed and videotaped the incident, according to the victim’s father, recorded the recordings and posted them on social media. He has also requested assistance from the FIA in this matter.
