Retired Lieutenant General Amjad Shuaib Arrested for Inciting Public Against National Institutions

In the early hours of Monday, retired Lieutenant General Amjad Shuaib was arrested by Islamabad police for allegedly inciting the public against national institutions.

Police personnel from the Ramna police station took him into custody from his residence in the federal capital. The arrest came after an FIR was filed against him at the Ramna police station under sections 153A and 505 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

According to the FIR, Shuaib incited people to revolt against institutions during his television interview. He is currently in police custody at the lockup of the police station and will be produced before a local court this morning, where police will seek his remand.

The former military officer was previously summoned by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to appear on September 7th after he made claims about a meeting between the Pakistani prime minister and an Israeli team but failed to do so.
