Punjab Declares Public Holiday on Madhu Lal Hussain’s urs this year

In observance of Madhu Lal Hussain’s urs, Lahore will have a public holiday on March 11 (Saturday), according to the Punjab government.

On this day, the Lahore District would be closed to business, according to a statement issued by the Punjab Home Department. The 11th of March will also see the closure of educational establishments.

A poet and Sufi saint from Lahore, Pakistan, Madhu Lal Hussain flourished in the sixteenth century. He is revered by both Muslims and Hindus in the area, who see him as a representation of love and religious understanding.

The significance of inner cleanliness and spiritual awakening was emphasized in Madhu Lal Hussain’s teachings, and his message was one of general love. In Lahore, a three-day urs is celebrated annually in his honor, during which devotees of many faiths congregate to pay their homage.

This festival, which stands for interfaith peace and unity, is a prominent cultural event in the area. Before, the Sindh government proclaimed a two-day provincial vacation to celebrate Holi with its Hindu staff.

“All offices, autonomous, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under the administrative supervision of the Government of Sindh are to be closed on March 6 and 7, 2023 (Monday and Tuesday), in observance of “HOLI,” with the exception of those doing COVID-19 and flood relief tasks,” the notification stated.

The “festival of colors” and spring holiday, Holi, is being celebrated with traditional and religious enthusiasm by the Hindu population in Pakistan and all around the world. Holi also signifies the end of winter and the start of spring, and to honor the occasion, people dance, give sweets, and squirt colored powder and water at one another. In addition, they throw water-filled balloons and smear “Abeer,” or scarlet vermilion powder.
