PTI Workers Clash with Law Enforcers as Police Attempt to Arrest Imran Khan in Toshakana Case

In a dramatic turn of events, law enforcers and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers clashed as a heavy contingent of police attempted to arrest former prime minister Imran Khan in the Toshakana case. This is the only case in which his arrest warrants are not suspended.

Following the development, Khan asked his supporters to keep fighting for the “rule of law” and to come out on the streets. PTI workers have since staged protests across major cities, resulting in injuries to both police personnel and PTI supporters.

A team of Islamabad police has been in Lahore since Monday to comply with court orders to arrest the PTI chairman, who faces a number of cases in different cities. Riot police are using water cannons and tear gas to disperse the party’s workers as they move ahead in their quest to arrest Khan.

On Monday, a district and sessions court in Islamabad restored the former prime minister’s non-bailable arrest warrant in the Toshakhana case, leading to the current clashes between PTI workers and law enforcers.

This latest incident underscores the ongoing political turmoil in Pakistan, with Khan’s supporters vowing to fight for his release and the PTI chairman himself calling for the continuation of the “true freedom movement”.
