PIA not happy with undergarments of flight attendants, issues notification

Pakistan International Airlines has made it a requirement that all of its flight attendants wear undergarments with their casual attire.

The general manager of flight services for the national carrier voiced concerns and provided instructions about the attire of the airline’s air hostesses. Aamir Bashir, the official, noted that there had been concerns regarding the air hostesses’ dress when they arrived at their offices, stayed in hotels, and traveled to other locations. He continued by saying that the air hostesses’ subpar clothing was damaging the PIA’s reputation. Grooming instructors and senior shift in-charges are now required to oversee flight attendant clothing.

The general manager of flight services issued a warning that flight attendants who disobeyed the rules would face harsh punishment. Separately, the International Transport Workers Federation has voiced worry over the PIA pilots’ and flight attendants’ extended job schedules. Aamir Hayat, CEO of PIA, has received a letter from the federation regarding the situation. It stated that the national airline has just changed the cabin crew’s working hours on its own. The effectiveness and productivity of the cabin staff were also highlighted as being negatively impacted by arbitrary changes to working hours. In addition, the action was against the rules.

According to the letter, the issue needs to be handled right now to preserve human lives because excessively long working hours for pilots and air hostesses could result in mishaps. The federation had already written the director general of the Civil Aviation Authority two years prior, it was further said. A meeting was conducted at the PIA office by Aviation and Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique to examine measures to enhance the capabilities of the national airline. The in-flight entertainment system should be made available to passengers as quickly as feasible, the minister said. The proposal to replace the old seats with nicer, more comfortable ones was also explained to the meeting’s attendees.

The minister noted that PIA passengers had long requested an in-flight entertainment system and improved seats. He continued by stating that Pakistan was one of the largest nations on the globe and that numerous efforts needed to be taken to strengthen the aviation sector. Rafique added that although many significant or medium-sized cities have airport infrastructure, they lacked air connectivity. The minister gave instructions to develop projects with a variety of goals to link these cities to the air network.
