Pakistan’s First Ever Plastic Road is Now Functional

On Monday, Pakistan’s first plastic road project was opened in Islamabad by the Minister of Interior, Sheikh Rashid Ahmad.

On Ataturk Avenue, a carpeted road consisting of bitumen and plastic spans for one kilometre.

Minister Ahmad praised the proposal and announced that more environmentally friendly plastic roads would be built in the federal capital and other cities by the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Amer Ali Ahmed.

Coca-Cola collaborated with the National Incubation Center (NIC) and the CDA to build the plastic road, which used 10 tonnes of plastic bottles.

The project’s goal is to protect Pakistan’s environment, and it has the potential to help both development and the environment if it is executed on a wide scale.

The CDA has previously completed a successful trial of the plastic road in F-9 Park.

According to the Chairman of the CDA, Islamabad generates around 700 tonnes of trash per day, with approximately 150 tonnes of plastic waste. “In the future, we will utilise plastic garbage for beneficial use such as road construction. This measure will not only assist CDA in lowering road costs, but it will also aid in the reduction of pollution,” he stated.
