Truck driver from Peshawar lands in US amid chaotic evacuations

PESHAWAR – As the evacuation process from Afghanistan continues, a Pakistani truck driver who went to Torkham to deliver goods from Peshawar ended up in the United States.

The hilarious incident surfaced and is recently doing rounds on social media sites however the authenticity of the story is uncertain as there are numerous versions of the episode while no official or family member verified the incident. However, a Dutch politician and former MP Joram van Klavere is one of the eminent members who shared the story on the social media site.

Amid the horror stories emerging from Hamid Karzai International Airport, an amusing story has garnered a lot of attention.

A Pakistani truck driver named Masho Shinwari, a resident of the northwestern region of the country, went to Torkham from KPK’s capital to deliver goods, however, the man was reportedly stuck in war-raked country after both sides closed the border for a brief time following the Taliban takeover.

The clueless Landi Kotal trucker parked his truck in the Afghan capital and went to the Kabul airport where the insurgents deployed while the Afghan and western citizens are completing evacuations with all possible manpower to meet the August 31 deadline.

Later, when the family didn’t hear from him for a couple of days, it makes them anxious as they were expecting the news of the death of Mashu as dozens of Afghan nationals got killed amid shooting, falling from plane beside stampede.

In a sigh of relief, the family got a call from an International number as it was no other person than Mashu himself.

Narrating the anecdote, the man said I was roaming around the airport aimlessly and I was very curious to see how planes look in proximity and in amid the mass evacuation, I got on board a massive jet that took to me America. It’s now my second night in the United States however he mentioned that he got a mobile phone with great difficulty.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani trucker told the family members to pick his parked truck from Kabul.

On the other hand, the US administration claimed that they had evacuated more than 82,000 people since Kabul fell to the Taliban.
