Nawaz Sharif Received Diplomatic Passport

The federal government granted Nawaz Sharif, the PML-N leader, a diplomatic passport on Thursday after gaining approval from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Passport and Immigration Office is how the PML-N leader obtained the five-year-old passport, according to sources. After the court found him to be guilty of an offense, the former PTI administration canceled Nawaz’s diplomatic passport. Just one week after the PML-N took control of the government as a result of a successful motion of no-confidence in PTI Chairman and then-premier Imran Khan, Nawaz acquired a normal passport with a 10-year expiration date in April.

Even though Sheikh Rashid, the interior minister at the time, suggested that Nawaz might be given special travel authorizations to return to Pakistan, Imran’s administration decided not to renew Nawaz’s passport when it expired in February 2021. Former presidents and premiers are permitted by law to retain their diplomatic passports.

Pakistan to launch e-passport service from 2022

In October 2019, a medical bail of eight weeks was granted to Nawaz, and in November, he was allowed permission to travel for four weeks of rehabilitation. He is at the moment in London. The PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz intimated earlier this month that Nawaz will go back to Pakistan because “no case is now left” following the Islamabad High Court’s determination that the decision against the Sharif family in the Avenfield flats case was “incorrect.”

At a news conference in London, Maryam said that the party will soon file a lawsuit and that after his “innocence” had been established, Nawaz would reintegrate into society. The broad hints from the PML-N scion that Nawaz would soon return to the political spotlight came as former Prime Minister Imran Khan moved closer to Islamabad, which was essentially the political haven of the PML-N-led coalition whose influence in the provinces had been diminished by the PTI’s unrelenting electoral victories. In light of his daughter’s eventual acquittal in the case, sources had earlier said that Nawaz’s lawyers planned to eliminate legal obstacles in the way of his return to the country while his party navigated rough seas.
