The Mona Lisa was left shaken but unharmed.
A visitor to the Louvre attempted to smash the glass protecting the world’s most famous painting before smearing a cake across its surface in an apparent climate-related publicity stunt.
A video posted online shows what appears to be cake smeared across the glass case holding the world’s most famous artwork.

A “guy dressed as an old lady” allegedly jumped out of a wheelchair at the Louvre in Paris before attempting to destroy the protective glass in front of the Leonardo da Vinci painting, according to witnesses.
The suspect then continued to “smear cake over the glass and toss roses everywhere before being assaulted by security,” according to one witness.

A separate video shows the individual accused of being the perpetrator imploring onlookers in French: “Think the planet… consider the fact that there are people who are ruining the planet. That’s why I went ahead and did it.” The person, who appears to be wearing lipstick and a wig, is subsequently led away by security. It was unclear what, if any, action they might face now.
The picture, which is regarded as an emblematic masterpiece of the Italian Renaissance, is not suspected to have been harmed.
