Men Brandishing Swords Attacked the Police Van Holding Aftab Poonawala

Aftab Poonawala, who is accused of killing Shraddha Walkar, was attacked by a gang of individuals brandishing swords outside the Rohini Forensic Science Laboratory on Monday while being transported there for a polygraph test.

The attackers waved swords in the direction of the officers, but the officers in the car defended themselves by pointing weapons in their direction and overwhelming the attackers. The accused was kept in custody. In the evening, an automobile passed the police van and then stopped. They claimed that a few guys got out of the automobile and began to attack the van carrying Poonawala. The incident occurred at around 6.45 p.m., according to the police, who also stated that the car was driven away from the site while the two perpetrators were apprehended.

Police officers could be seen drawing their service revolvers to scatter the assailants brandishing swords in social media videos of the alleged incident. One of the videos showed a few attackers claiming to be right-wingers who wanted to dismember Poonawala as retaliation for the murder of Shraddha Walkar. Two people have been detained for questioning, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) G S Sidhu. The two people arrested have been named by the police as Kuldeep and Nigam. They stated that more legal action will be taken as required under the law. Hindu Sena national president Vishnu Gupta responded to the incident by saying, whatever these activists have done is by reacting to their personal feelings.

The entire nation learned how Poonawala dismembered a Hindu girl. The organization opposes any work that disobeys the Indian Constitution. We obey the law, he proclaimed. Police officers manning the van reportedly had to shoot into the air to defend themselves. In the meantime, Shraddha Walkar’s body parts that were cut off were discovered by the Delhi Police on Monday. According to sources, police have also found Shraddha’s ring, which Aftab gave to a different girl he called to his apartment shortly after the murder. Walkar, 27, was allegedly killed by Poonawala in Delhi in May of this year.

He is accused of killing Walkar and sawing her body into 35 pieces, which he allegedly kept in a refrigerator at his home in South Delhi’s Mehrauli neighborhood for about three weeks before discarding them all over the city over several days after midnight. An official stated that on Thursday, a team from Delhi police searched for a cell phone in the vicinity of Mumbai’s Bhayander Creek.

According to him, police officers from the Mira-Bhayandar-Vasai-Virar Police helped with the search. The Vasai neighborhood near Mumbai is where Walkar and her live-in partner and alleged murderer Aftab Poonawala are camped out for a week by the police team from the nation’s capital.

The detectives also obtained testimony from acquaintances, family members, and the property managers of the apartments Walkar and Poonawala had rented, among others. He was detained by the police for five days after his detention on November 12; this period was then extended by another five days on November 17. He was kept in police detention for four days starting on November 22. On November 26, the court ordered him to spend 13 days in judicial custody.
