Amjad Islam Amjad, an important figure in literature, died in Lahore at the age of 78. The famed playwright passed away from a heart attack.

Amjad is Pakistan’s famous poet, playwright, educationalist, columnist, and literary critic. He is also the author of some of the country’s most important cultural works.

The most brilliantly glittering stars in the galaxy that is his prodigious catalog are plays like Waris, Samandur, Dehleez, Din, Raat, Waqt, Fishaar, and Inkaar, which are all well-known and immensely beloved.

Shifting Sands, Ham Us Kay Hain, Sahilon Ki Hawa, Phir Yun Huwa, Zara Phir Se Kehna, Itne Khawb Kahan Rakhun Ga, and many other significant works have been covered in the never-ending journey of his outstanding, soul-lifting, and award-winning works.

In addition to writing more than seventy books, he has also been the topic of more than ten other books, each of which was authored by an author or critic with an international reputation.

Among his many honors and accomplishments, The Pride of Performance and Sitara-e-Imtiaz stand out as a few glistening pearls.

The Necip Fazil International Culture and Art Award, given by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was given to him outside of Pakistan. “Amjad Islam Amjad is one of the most prominent poets in modern Urdu language,” the Turkish president is reported to have declared when addressing the occasion.
