Lucas Ranieri fakes injury to allow teammate Sofyan Amrabat to break his fast

During the holy month of Ramadan, many athletes and players refrain from eating and drinking from sunrise until dusk, just like millions of Muslims throughout the world.

Amrabat, a Moroccan football player, is following the fast while continuing to play. The San Siro played host to Inter Milan and Fiorentina for the last afternoon kickoff in Italy.

Gaetano Castrovilli gave Fiorentina the lead in the 53rd minute, and Amrabat, who came off the bench to replace him in the second half, sealed a surprise 1-0 victory that night.

In extra time, no one was around Ranieri when he collapsed, and there was no opposition tackle.  He waved at the medical personnel to attend to him as he sat on the ground. Amrabat took advantage of the opportunity to hurry to the touchline for a quick snack despite it being stoppage time and with only a few minutes remaining in the game. He allegedly broke his fast at this hour.

It is commonly believed that Ranieri “faked the injury” to aid his teammate in breaking fast, despite video showing him seeking medical attention. Many people praised the act on social media, one of whom wrote: “Had to be loved! Nicely done! “.
