Furthermore, in FY 2020-21, employee remittances from Italy hit an all-time high of $601 million. As a result, Italy became Pakistan’s second-largest European Union source of worker remittances, after the United Kingdom.

Above all, Italy wants to establish a gemstones training institute in Gilgit-Baltistan in order to maximise the potential of these locations while also strengthening bilateral cooperation. To be clear, the latent gemstones industry in Pakistan has an annual export potential of $32 billion dollars.

The Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, Andreas Ferrarese, introduced the notion to Chairman Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

He also claimed that Italy intended to use technology transfer to usher in a new era of economic and trade relations with Pakistan.
