Harvard University lists Sujood like posture ‘best’ to treat back pain

MASSACHUSETTS – The physical movements of the human especially the Sujood like pose [prostration] can help to treat lower back pain, a study of Harvard Health research said.

The study of the fifth best university in the world stated that position in which an individual goes down on the knees and rests hands and forehead on the ground, much akin to prostration or Sajdah is ‘best medicine’ to treat chronic back pain as the medical condition is referred as one of the most common medical problems in the US, per National Institutes of Health study.

A post shared by Harvard Health, that mostly reveals healthier life from the ‘trusted’ medical team at Harvard Medical School, has revealed that the posture position is healthier than other methods to curb pain.

Sujood is the act of prostrating before Allah SWT in the direction of the Holy Kaaba during the Salah and in Islam, Sujood is considered the highest form of worship, and it is the position where a person is the nearest to Almighty.

Meanwhile, a report of International Journal of Science Culture and Sport cited that the human brain received more blood supply during the prostration pose that directly has an effect on concentration, memory, vision, and a number of things while another study of the National Center for Biotechnology Information said the brain structure changes during this position.

Some reports claimed that around 80 percent of adults report at least one episode of back pain. The Harvard study also added that lying down too much can increase back pain and the suffering goes worse over time which in long term reduces flexibility and muscle tone.

Researchers claim ‘exact date of demise’ of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), but what do Muslims believe?
