Passport applications, a need for travel, can have long wait times. According to sources, there have been more passport applications than ever before, which has resulted in a delay in passport delivery that is more than twice as lengthy.
The standard and urgent delivery times for passports have been extended to 7 days and 21 days, respectively, due to the sharp surge in passport applications. The response time for a fast-track passport has been extended to four days.
Also, there has been a delay in sending the applicants’ mobile phones the series of messages pertaining to various phases of passport processing. Using the text messaging feature on the candidates’ cell phones, two messages were generated automatically. The first text message discusses how passport processing is finished once it is collected and received for printing. The second message pertains to the printing of the passport and the delivery date to the appropriate authority. Applicants are now in the dark about the status of their passport processing because of the delay in messages.
