In order to apprehend Farhat Shahzadi, also known as Farah Khan, who has been accused of money laundering at home, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has requested an Interpol red alert.
The FIA has requested the red notice of “fugitive Farhat Shahzadi in FIR 04/23 of FIA anti-money laundering circle in Lahore” in a letter to the Interpol director in Islamabad. A red notice, according to Interpol, is not a global arrest warrant but rather a request to law enforcement agencies around the world to “locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action.”
A number of PML-N leaders, including several federal cabinet members, have been pressuring the administration to enable the FIA to return Ms. Shahzadi to the nation so she can answer for the charges brought against her. Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI chairman Imran Khan, is close friends with Ms. Shahzadi. Ms. Shahzadi was referred to as Punjab’s “real chief minister” by PML-N chief organizer Maryam Nawaz Sharif while Usman Buzdar was in office.
Ms. Shahzadi had already delivered legal letters to the prime minister’s special assistant Attaullah Tarar for his “derogatory” comments about her, as well as against a businessman in Dubai, a well-known news outlet, and its anchor for their alleged claims that she was involved in the selling of Toshakhana gifts.
Days before Mr. Khan was dismissed as prime minister by a no-confidence vote in April of last year, Ms. Shahzadi departed the nation. Her alleged money laundering of millions of rupees was the subject of an investigation, the FIA claimed in its letter. Farhat Shahzadi alias Farah Gogi fled to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on April 3, 2022, due to her concern that her horrible act would be discovered, according to the statement. The court of Mr. Ghulam Murtaza Virk pronounced her to be a proclaimed offender on March 14, 2023, by issuing a proclamation order (warrant).
In order to issue the red notice as soon as possible, the investigating agency asked Interpol to receive approval of this request and transfer the process to its headquarters in Lyon, France.
The agency declared that after Ms. Shahzadi received a red notice, it would relentlessly pursue her arrest abroad. Ahsan Jamil Gujjar, Ms. Shahzadi’s spouse, is also the subject of a money laundering investigation by the FIA. He is currently in the USA. Additionally, it has been reported that Ms. Shahzadi has left the UAE and is now living abroad, maybe in the US with her husband or some other country.
