The former prime minister of the U.K., David Cameron has left with no other choice but to resign from his position at a software company Afiniti. This comes after a 23-year-old ex-worker of the company hurled allegations on the firm’s founder – Zia Chishti – of sexual assault.
Lately, Tatiana Spottiswoode threw a barrage of allegations against the chief executive to members of Congress in the U.S.
Saving his side, Cameron, whose post-political role was previously damaged by his position at the defunct bank Greensill, commented he had “absolutely no knowledge” of the accusations against Chishti before the hearing.
In a briefing to the Congress, Spottiswoode said that despite her previously statement telling Chishti that she did not consent, she came under pressure into having intimate relationship with Chishti on a trip abroad, when he also allegedly thrash her. Later, the chief executive started arbitration against her and her father who was also hired by Afiniti.
Responding, Chishti strongly rejected her baseless claims, saying her accusations were “erroneous”.
Following the news, the shares of Chishti’s company in Pakistan – TRG – plunged in Pakistan Stock Exchange. It is to be noted here that Chishti had also been conferred with Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the government of Pakistan in 2018.
