‘Dr.’ Taylor Swift in the house!

Taylor Swift gets an honorary Ph.D. from New York University

The ‘All Too Well’ singer earned an honorary degree of fine arts from New York University, as she headed towards the stage at Yankee Stadium, blowing kisses as the crowd shouted.

Swift, wearing her distinctive red lipstick and her freshly bestowed honorary robe, addressed the thousands of graduates in attendance, saying, “I’m 90% sure the major reason I’m here is because I have a song called 22.”

“I attended public high school until 10th grade and then completed my schooling doing home school work on the floors of airport terminals,” she says in a speech.

She began her music career at the age of 15, traveling to various radio stations across the country, according to the singer-songwriter, producer, and director. She went on to sell over 100 million albums and win Album of the Year three times at the Grammys in 2021 for her album Folklore, making her the first woman to do so. Her earlier awards were for Fearless in 2010 and 1989 in 2016.

When Jason King of the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music addressed her recently rerecorded albums, including Fearless, she smirked at the audience.

Swift closed her speech by encouraging graduates that mistakes are unavoidable, but that “when bad things happen to us, we will recover, we will learn from it, and we will grow more robust as a result of it.” We will breathe in, breathe through, breathe deeply, and breathe out as long as we are fortunate enough to be breathing. Now that I’m a doctor, I understand how breathing works.

“I hope you understand how honored I am to share this day with you,” she expressed her gratitude. “Since we’re doing this together, let’s keep dancing like the class of ’22.”
