Boy arrested for Planning ‘Khatam’ and aerial firing on Sidhu Moosewala’s death anniversary

An “inappropriate” social media post about a “aerial firing” event on the anniversary of Indian musician Sidhu Moosewala’s fatal shooting last year went viral, leading Okara police to temporarily detain a young boy.

According to the post, police spokesperson Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mohammad Khalid stated that a teenage lad had stated his intention to organize “aerial firing” and organize an annual khatam (recitation of the Quran) on the anniversary of Moosewala’s passing. Moosewala and a youngster may be seen in photos of the post going viral on social media.

It is a request for participation in the khatam in the Samadpura neighborhood from the “entire Jatt community and thugs,” with the warning that “there would be firing after [the event]”. As soon as the post became viral, the teenager was taken into custody, according to ASI Khalid of B-Division police. According to investigation, the suspect is a matric student who is around 15 years old, the official continued. As stated by the ASI, police released the youngster after giving him a warning after realizing his error.

The child said in the police statement that he just posted the invitation “with the intention of mischief” and that he had no real intention of actually coordinating the gathering. The youngster’s father gave the police assurances that his son would not repeat the crime, according to the statement, which also stated that the boy “expressed regret and apologized.”
