‘Arrest Aamir Liaqat’ trends on Twitter

Aamir Liaquat Hussain, a National Assembly member Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and TV host has been trending on Twitter but not for the right reasons.

A blasphemy complaint has been filed with the Sindh police station in this reference. On the occasion of his visit at Madina Mosque two days ago, the PTI leader made a divisive statement about the Shia community, to which social media users reacted angrily.

Aamir Liaquat Hussain (born 5 July 1971) is a Pakistani politician and television broadcaster who has served in Pakistan’s National Assembly since August 2018. He previously served as a member of the National Assembly from 2002 to 2007 and as Minister of State for Religious Affairs in Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz’s federal cabinet from 2004 to 2007.

The petition filed with Sachal Police Station in the blasphemy case against Amir Liaquat Hussain alleges that Amir Liaquat Hussain has hurled bogus allegations against the Shia school of thought, as well as against Maulana Haider Abbas Abidi.

According to the petitioner, Aamir Liaquat Hussain should be charged under Articles 298A and 295A of the Pakistani Constitution.

Twitter user and even actors seemed very furious . Actor Mishi Khan wrote on Twitter “I think this guy needs a shrink ASAP. Shameful what he said, I strongly condemn it. We as Muslims need to respect all sects & not utter rubbish as he did. He has lost all respect & his marbles at the same time”.
