5G to Be Introduced By July 2023: IT Minister

Pakistan will roll out 5G technology by July 2023, according to a statement made on Thursday by Federal Minister for Information, Technology, and Communication Syed Aminul Haque.

The minister made the declaration while addressing a crowd at the UBIT Career Fest 2022, which was hosted by the University of Karachi’s Department of Computer Science. He was invited to attend as the main guest. More than 30 software businesses took part in the event, which was hosted at the UBIT Garden, to narrow down the field of candidates following testing and interviews.

The IT and telecommunications industry has experienced a greater increase in exports than any of Pakistan’s other 43 ministries, with the other 43 ministries’ exports only increasing by 2% to 3%. In contrast, the sector’s exports have increased by 47.44%. With the help of IT companies and colleges, according to Haque, future needs can be satisfied. He also mentioned that US$75 million was set aside for start-ups in 2019–20, and that number climbed to US$373 million the following year. The federal IT minister acknowledged that many female students attend various institutions’ computer science programs and expressed his satisfaction with their contribution in this area.

In addition to telling the audience that there is no evidence of corruption in the Ministry of IT and Communication and that anyone found to have been involved in corruption will be fired from the ministry, he claimed that society may advance through empowering women. Our exports were worth 1.4 billion dollars when I took over the ministry; they are now worth 2.6 billion, but our goal is 5 billion. He added that we are living in the era of information technology because technology is being incorporated into every aspect of life, including architecture, defense technology, space sciences, and other industries.

We must put a lot of effort into achieving the goals of 2050, Syed Aminul Haque stated. Professor Dr. Khalid Mahmood-Iraqi, the KU Vice Chancellor, stated that universities are often the hub for producing original thought, creativity, and research on this occasion. Although our young are intelligent and creative thinkers, it is important to encourage them and give them access to resources so they can put their ideas into action. Dr. Nadeem Mahmood, the chairman of the department of computer science, had earlier discussed the career carnival and highlighted its goals.
